the side effects of lariam have been hitting me recently - the vivid and all too realistic dreams, waking in the middle of the night, heart pounding like you've just ran a 100 meter dash. i've heard rumors about lariam being a controversial drug and that it causes some bizarre side effects so i found the information that came with the bottle. lariam (also called mefloquine) has the following "possible side effects"...nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, fever, hair loss, ringing in the ears, dizziness, diarrhea, insomnia, strange dreams, lightheadedness....those were only a few...and then there are MORE under the "contact your doctor if you experience"... fast, slow or irregular hearbeat, seizures, loss of coordination, vision changes, depression that may include thoughts of hurting yourself, hallucinations, restlessness, confusion...etc etc. WTF?
